2018/2019 has been an extremely exciting academic year for us all at The Creative Dance Company...

April 2019 saw 15 students set sail on the MSC Lirica to perform on The Broadway Theatre stage and travel round the Mediterranean! 'Cruise Team 2019' represented Creative Dance wonderfully and a great time was had by all.

This is what they had to say...

"The 'showboat' was absolutely incredible"

"Loved it. Loved it. Loved it"

"It was AMAZING"

Our exhilarating year ended with our annual full school show on Saturday 29th July, this years' show was "Dancing Through The Decades". Our wonderful students performed to family and friends at The John Leakey Hall, Dulwich Prep.

With our 20th anniversary approaching we have no doubt that 2019/2020 will be an equally exciting year!

We are very proud to be able to say that we have a number of ex-students working in the industry with graduates going on to train at various professional colleges including; Arts Educational Schools London, Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, Bird College, Legat School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Urdang Academy, Millennium Performing Arts College, London Studio Centre and Central School of Speech and Drama.

Jamie began her training with Creative Dance in 2000 when her mother Valerie McDonald launched the company to provide a local school for children with a love for the Arts. Jamie went on to become a Teaching Assistant and then Dance Teacher at Creative Dance before training full time at Millennium Performing Arts London. Since graduating in 2010 Jamie has performed with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, featuring in productions such as Swan Lake, Nutcracker!, Sleeping Beauty, Early Adventures and Cinderella. Other credits include The Phantom of the Opera UK tour, Kiss Me, Kate UK tour, Grange Park Opera and Garsington Opera.
Creative Dance holds a very special place in Jamie’s heart and she will always be grateful for the ten years she spent there.

After Creative Dance Sasha moved to London to train at The Urdang Academy and to gain a degree in Dance and Musical Theatre. Her third and final year has easily been her favourite because of the opportunities she's been lucky enough to have, such as dancing in a professional music video and dancing for Dua Lipa at the Brit Awards! It’s been difficult but also amazing, and she never would have experienced any of it if it hadn’t have been for the Creative Dance Company! She is two months away from graduation and in the midst of auditions, in addition Sasha is looking forward to getting her yoga teacher training in the coming months!

Since graduating from Arts Educational Schools in Chiswick, Emily was lucky enough to be cast in the Chichester and UK Tour production of Mack & Mabel, where she understudied the lead role, Mabel. Emily then went on to play Rumpelteazer in a UK/European tour of Cats. Following that, she spent three months in Toronto performing in Mrs Henderson Presents, before playing Young Carlotta and understudying Young Sally in Folliesat the National Theatre. Emily is currently in rehearsals as Lillian Gish for a production ofThe Biograph Girl, which plays a short run at the Finborough Theatre.

Paige started dancing 15 years ago at The Creative Dance company where every weekend she was surrounded by people who were like family to her! When Paige was a little older, she was allowed to assist Valerie which was a dream come true. She went on to train professionally at The Urdang Academy when she was 18 and continued at the Creative Dance but now as a teacher and was appointed the position as Head Of Dance. Since leaving college Paige has been lucky enough to perform in shows such as BARE, performed in concerts and most recently finished a contract with the prestigious Carnival UK group as a lead vocalist on their leading cruise ships. Paige says she wouldn’t be the performer or the person she is today if it wasn’t for those Saturdays she spent at The Creative Dance Company!
